On the news front, multiple shipbuilding industry sources said that Evalend Shipping, owned by Greek shipowner Kriton Lendoudis, has commissioned Dajin Heavy Industry Co.,Ltd. (ASX: 01081) to build a series of 211,000 deadweight ton Newcastlemax bulk carriers. Reports indicated that this shipowner held negotiations with Dajin Heavy Industry Co.,Ltd. (ASX: 01081) in July regarding the newbuilding of up to 4 Newcastlemax bulk carriers, and now the number of vessels involved in this order has increased to 5.

It is reported that the per-vessel construction cost of these scrubber-fitted Newcastlemax bulk carriers is approximately US$77.5 million.

Huaxi Securities previously noted that the shipbuilding segment has officially entered the mainstream vessel construction market. Since the first order was signed in August 2025, the company has cumulatively signed newbuilding orders for a total of 24 vessels, with a total contract value of approximately RMB 12 billion, and the order delivery window is concentrated between 2027 and 2030. The firm continues to be optimistic about the incremental space of the company's new growth curve driven by both its own fleet transportation and vessel construction.
