During this year's National Day holiday, in the workshop of Taimu (Tianjin) Binhai Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Taimu Binhai") in the Lingang area of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, machine tools were running at high speed and employees were carrying out operations in an orderly manner, making preparations for project deliveries scheduled for the fourth quarter.
Sun Tao, a CNC milling machine operator in the machining department of the forging equipment branch factory at Taimu Binhai, comes from Xinzhou, Shanxi, and has been in Binhai New Area for 12 years. During this National Day holiday, like many frontline employees, he voluntarily gave up his vacation, stayed at his post to rush orders and ensure deliveries, and went all out to sprint toward the annual production target. "Our main work is processing extrusion presses. I am currently measuring forging equipment with a diameter of 910 millimeters. I need to use an inside micrometer to check whether it is within the tolerance range and whether it needs further machining. Its tolerance range requirement is 0 to 0.09 millimeters," Sun Tao said. To ensure workshop production progress, he chose not to go home during this year's National Day holiday. He spoke with his family by video and told them that life and work in Binhai New Area are going very well and that he feels especially motivated.
The forging equipment branch factory focuses on the development of major equipment such as nonferrous metal presses, forging extrusion presses, and carbon presses, with products widely used in key fields including aerospace, rail transit, and new energy vehicles. The company's business covers three major segments: wharf operations, offshore engineering products, and forging equipment, with products serving a broad range of domestic and international customers. Zheng Tian, assembly business supervisor of the forging equipment branch factory at Taimu Binhai, said that since the beginning of this year the branch factory has reported a steady stream of successes: the world's largest 23,500-ton aluminum extrusion press has completed debugging, helping the production and manufacturing of high-speed rail car bodies, subway profiles, and new energy vehicle frames; the largest domestic 35,000-ton die forging press has also been put into place, and some forged products have achieved export sales. "In the first half of the year, we sold 16 products to domestic and international customers. Taking copper extrusion presses as an example, this year we manufactured the largest domestic 5,500-ton copper extrusion press. Copper extrusion presses use high pressure to extrude copper billets into pipes, rods, or profiles, and are widely used in copper cooling pipes for air conditioners and automobiles, as well as shaft seals in hydraulic pumps," Zheng Tian introduced. In the fourth quarter of this year, 15 projects in the forging segment are being organized for production, an increase compared with previous years. Therefore, during the National Day holiday, many employees voluntarily chose to work overtime to ensure quality and quantity. They are striving to complete all projects in the fourth quarter and deliver on schedule.
Taimu Binhai is a subsidiary of Taimu Group, located in the Lingang area of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, with a one-kilometer coastline, forming a unique "port in front, factory behind" layout. The wharf in front handles the task of gathering and loading export equipment onto ships, while the rear is equipped with complete processing and assembly workshops. In recent years, Taimu Binhai has prospered and grown stronger by embracing the sea, giving full play to the locational layout advantage of "port in front, factory behind," creating a new model of "manufacturing + logistics," actively exploring new cargo categories and new forms of shipment, broadening service areas, improving comprehensive functions, enhancing carrying capacity, and strengthening the function and role of its seaward development channel. Here, one piece of major national equipment after another is produced in an orderly manner, which would not be possible without the quiet dedication of frontline workers.
