JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon Warns Anthropic's Mythos AI Could Amplify Cyber Threats by Roughly Tenfold

JPMorgan (JPM.US) Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon said in an interview that Anthropic's Mythos AI model could increase global cybersecurity risks by roughly ten times, and warned that as technologies such as AI agents advance rapidly, companies are facing new types of security vulnerabilities that did not exist in the past.

Dimon said that even before the rapid rise of generative AI, cybersecurity had long been a major risk for companies, but the emergence of AI has created vulnerabilities that were previously unknown. He pointed out that AI agents and technologies such as Mythos could be used to cause disruption, and the resulting security risks are not a theoretical concern but a real and present danger.

Notably, even as Dimon warns about the cybersecurity risks posed by AI, JPMorgan itself remains one of the most aggressive deployers of AI technology in the banking sector. According to the 2026 Evident AI Index, JPMorgan has been ranked the world's most advanced bank in AI adoption for the fifth consecutive year, with Capital One (COF.US) and Royal Bank of Canada (RY.US) following closely behind.

Turning to the data center buildout driven by the AI boom, Dimon said data centers should be built in areas where they can gain the support of local communities. He noted that many U.S. states have ample power supply and are willing to accept data center projects. As demand for AI model training and inference grows rapidly, power supply and local community acceptance of large data center construction are becoming important factors for the industry's expansion.

Meanwhile, Anthropic is stepping up its plans to go public. According to earlier reports, the company could launch an IPO as early as mid-November and is seeking to list on U.S. markets before Thanksgiving on November 26, with a listing potentially completed by the end of this year at the latest. Market sources indicate that Anthropic's potential valuation could reach $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion, though the specific valuation and offering size have not yet been finalized. The company also plans to hold a meeting with potential investors on October 14 to prepare for the IPO.
