Recently, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security published minimum wage standards across all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government, with data current as of October 1, 2026.
In Shanxi, the monthly minimum wage is set at 2,350 yuan for the first tier, 2,250 yuan for the second tier, and 2,150 yuan for the third tier. The hourly minimum wage stands at 25.3 yuan for the first tier, 24.2 yuan for the second tier, and 23.3 yuan for the third tier.
Minimum wage standards serve as a statutory labor baseline. They are mandatory rules established by the state to protect the basic livelihood of workers and their family members, requiring employers to pay workers no less than the stipulated minimum labor remuneration. These standards are characterized by being statutory, providing a floor, and being compulsory.
Minimum wage standards generally take two forms: a monthly minimum wage and an hourly minimum wage. The monthly minimum wage applies to full-time employed workers, while the hourly minimum wage applies to part-time employed workers.
