Samsung Electronics is constructing a major semiconductor testing plant in Vietnam as part of a strategy to diversify its export bases and meet surging memory chip demand driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Previously, most chip testing operations were concentrated in South Korea. This plan aims to establish testing facilities overseas, broaden export bases, and ensure a stable supply of memory chips to global customers.
Documents show that Samsung established a back-end chip subsidiary, Samsung Vietnam Semiconductor (SVS), in Vietnam in March of this year, and is building a semiconductor testing plant in plots CN-11 and CN-12 of the An Binh Industrial Park in Thai Nguyen Province, Vietnam.
The site is located in the same industrial park as Samsung's smartphone production base and covers an area of 265,895 square meters, equivalent to about 37 football fields.
The An Binh Industrial Park is equipped with a logistics network, with main roads providing direct access to Noi Bai International Airport and multiple seaports. The industrial infrastructure is complete, with water supply facilities capable of providing 150,000 cubic meters per day and wastewater treatment facilities handling 80,000 cubic meters per day.
