Prudential plc (PRU) announced on Oct, 06 2026 that it has cancelled 1.59 million ordinary shares repurchased on Sep, 30 2026 and Oct, 01 2026, cutting its issued share capital to about 2.48 billion shares as at Oct, 05 2026.
The cancelled shares had been bought back on the London Stock Exchange at prices ranging from GBP 9.1742 to GBP 9.4008 each.
In addition, 1.57 million further shares repurchased on Oct, 02 2026 and Oct, 05 2026—at an average price of roughly GBP 9.19—remain to be cancelled.
On Oct, 05 2026 the company acquired 787,614 shares for cancellation in two tranches: 437,535 shares for about GBP 4.03 million under the buy-back mandate approved at the 2025 annual general meeting (AGM) and 350,079 shares for about GBP 3.22 million under the renewed mandate granted at the 2026 AGM.
To date, Prudential has repurchased 127.11 million shares (4.88 per cent of the shares outstanding at the 2025 AGM) and 7.86 million shares (0.31 per cent) under its 2026 mandate. The group is barred from issuing new shares or selling treasury shares until Nov, 04 2026.
