The Monetary Authority of Singapore has issued a set of guidelines on artificial intelligence risk management to support the adoption of AI technology across the financial industry.

The guidelines set out regulatory expectations for AI applications and apply to all financial institutions and all types of AI technology.

The core requirements from MAS are that financial institutions identify and strengthen oversight of AI risks, while also managing the risks arising from the use of third-party AI.

MAS plans to consult the financial industry further in 2027 on supplementary guidelines for agentic AI.

The guidelines will take effect on October 7, 2027.

Financial institutions must meet the regulatory requirements in Articles 3 to 4 by October 7, 2027, and implement Articles 5 and 6 by October 7, 2028.
