Multiple shipbuilding industry sources report that Greek shipowner Kriton Lendoudis-backed Evalend Shipping has commissioned Dajin Heavy Industry Co.,Ltd. (01081) to build a series of 211,000 deadweight ton Newcastlemax bulk carriers. Reports indicate that the shipowner began negotiations with DAJIN in July for the construction of up to four Newcastlemax bulk carriers, and the order has now expanded to five vessels.
It is understood that these scrubber-fitted Newcastlemax bulk carriers are priced at approximately US$77.5 million per vessel.
Huaxi Securities previously noted that the shipbuilding segment has officially entered the mainstream vessel construction market. Since securing its first newbuilding order in August 2025, the company has cumulatively signed new shipbuilding contracts for a total of 24 vessels, with a combined contract value of approximately 12 billion yuan. Deliveries are concentrated between 2027 and 2030. The brokerage remains bullish on the incremental growth potential of the company's new growth curve driven by both its owned fleet transportation business and shipbuilding operations.
