On 6 October 2026, HSBC Holdings plc cancelled 6.92 million ordinary shares of US$0.50 each that had been repurchased on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the buy-back programme announced on 5 August 2026.

Following the cancellation, HSBC’s total issued share capital comprises 17.14 billion ordinary shares, all of which carry voting rights; the group holds no shares in treasury.

Shareholders should now use the updated figure of 17.14 billion as the denominator when calculating disclosure thresholds under the UK Financial Conduct Authority’s Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules or Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Ordinance.
