Residents of an unmanaged residential compound in the jurisdiction recently reported to the Yuying Community of Kaoshan Subdistrict that sewage wells in the compound had become silted up and were overflowing, with wastewater spreading across the road surface and giving off a pungent odor.
The overflow not only disrupted residents' daily travel but also created a breeding ground for mosquitoes, posing environmental health risks and significantly affecting daily life.
After receiving the complaint, community grid workers immediately went to the site to conduct an on-site inspection.
Investigations showed that the compound is an older residential area without property management, meaning there is no professional team for routine maintenance. The drainage network was built long ago and the pipes have aged, while household waste, grease and debris have accumulated over time, causing the sewage wells to silt up and block, with wastewater backing up and spilling out.
To resolve the problem as quickly as possible, the community promptly contacted a professional sewage cleaning team and coordinated suction trucks to carry out the work on site.
Workers extracted the accumulated sewage and waste from the wells, used high-pressure equipment to clear the blocked pipes, and completed road washing and disinfection at the scene. The drainage channel was fully cleared and the sewage wells returned to normal drainage function, improving the compound's environment. (Correspondent: Cui Ling)
