Altamira Gold Reports Broad Gold Intercepts at Brazilian Project, Highlighting Open Mineralization Boundaries

October 9 saw new results from a gold project in Brazil that touch on both surface and deeper zones.

According to Sprott Physical Gold & Silver Trust (CEF) market watchers, Altamira disclosed on October 8 that the Maria Bonita drill hole returned an intercept of approximately 134 metres grading 0.5 grams of gold per tonne, while trenching along the same section yielded 114 metres grading 0.7 grams of gold per tonne.

The broader mineralized envelope provides supplementary information for continuing to understand the shape of the ore body. Sprott Physical Gold Trust (PHYS) notes that the location of these results dictates how they should be interpreted.

This batch of data was received after the cut-off date of the most recent resource estimate, so it has not been incorporated into that estimate, though the relevant holes and trenches sit within the updated optimized open-pit shell.

They may help refine the existing model, but they cannot be used to claim confirmed equivalent additional resources, let alone convert mineralized lengths into recoverable gold quantities.

The drill hole terminated in mineralization, suggesting there is still room to test the deeper boundary; the company is also continuing to drill to the west in search of the system's extension.

However, another drill hole and some trench results were relatively weaker, showing that mineralization is not uniformly distributed.

For low-grade, broad mineralized bodies, continuity, waste rock ratios and recovery performance all affect potential economics, and intercept width alone is not sufficient.

Mineralization remaining open merely means the boundary has not been closed off; it does not guarantee the scale of any extension.

Market analysts say the next things to watch are whether pending assays, shallow supplementary drilling and western boundary verification can corroborate one another.

If new data supports continuous distribution, the resource model may become clearer; if differences between areas widen, development assumptions will also need adjustment.

Before a formal technical update, these results should be understood as exploration progress rather than capacity expansion that has already been achieved.
