Accenture (ACN) contractor was removed by the FBI on Monday over a security failure linked to a data breach that exposed sensitive personal information of thousands of bureau employees, Reuters reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The breach resulted from a contractor's failure to apply a security patch to a platform managed by a third party, FBI cyber chief Brett Leatherman said in a statement to Reuters, adding that the agency did not identify the platform or third-party provider.
The sources identified the platform as Oracle's (ORCL) PeopleSoft human resources system and the third-party provider as Accenture, according to Reuters.
Accenture did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
