Singapore Shares Open Marginally Higher on Wall Street Tech Rally

Singapore shares opened marginally higher on Tuesday, lifted by a tech-driven rally on Wall Street and a slide in global oil prices.

The Straits Times Index edged up 2.98 points, or 0.05%, to open at 5,667.310.

Investor appetite for artificial intelligence-related technology stocks pushed the S&P 500 index near a record high overnight.

Meanwhile, easing oil prices further bolstered market sentiment. Crude extended its declines following news that Group of Seven (G7) nations plan to release emergency oil and diesel stockpiles to counter the supply disruptions caused by renewed attacks around the Strait of Hormuz.
