PG Cold Energy 1, a joint venture led by PETRONAS Gas (KLSE:PETGAS) and DIALOG Group (KLSE:DIALOG), has entered into an agreement with NYSE-listed Air Products to establish Malaysia's first liquefied natural gas-based air separation unit.
Under the pact, Air Products will be responsible for the design, build and operation of the LNG-based air separation unit at the Pengerang LNG regasification terminal in Johor, according to a Wednesday statement.
The proposed facility is estimated to produce more than 600 tonnes of liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon per day and is expected to begin operations by early 2027.
The new plant will supply the merchant market in Southern and Central Malaysia.
