The ANZ-Roy Morgan Australian consumer confidence fell 3.4 points to 67.1 in the week of Sept. 28 to Oct. 4, ANZ reported Tuesday.

The four-week moving average fell 1.2 points to 70.9, per the report.

Australian consumer confidence has slumped to its 10th-lowest level on record following the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) latest interest rate hike, with sentiment weakening across homeowners, mortgage holders and renters, according to ANZ economist Sophia Angala.

The RBA is likely to deliver another rate hike in November, potentially pushing the cash rate to 4.85%, its highest since 2008, and further weighing on consumer spending, Angala added.

Weekly inflation expectations rose to 5.9% from 5.7%, while the current financial condition indicator for 12 months decreased 8.4 points to 58.6. The future financial conditions for the next 12 months eased to 75.6 points from 77.5.

Short-term economic confidence for the next year fell 2.7 points to 58.9, while medium-term economic confidence for the next five years increased to 75.4 points from 74.9.

The "time to buy a major household item" subcategory fell 5 points to 66.7.
