Tata Steel India's Fiscal Q2 Output Up 10%, Deliveries Rise 7%

Tata Steel (BOM:500470) India's crude steel production rose 10% year over year to 6.21 million tons in the fiscal second quarter, while deliveries grew 7% to 5.97 million tons.

The Automotive & Special Products and Branded Products & Retail verticals both achieved their best-ever quarterly volumes, with the latter reaching 2.2 million tons, according to a Wednesday filing with the Indian bourse.

Tata Steel Netherlands produced 1.52 million tons and delivered 1.30 million tons, with its Direct Sheet Plant restarting in August at rated capacity.

Tata Steel UK deliveries fell to 380,000 tons from 570,000 tons, affected by inventory buildup ahead of new safeguard measures, while Thailand posted 320,000 tons of production and 310,000 tons of deliveries, both down from 360,000 tons a year prior.

In the fiscal first half, Tata Steel India's production and deliveries rose 10% and 8% year over year to nearly 12 million tons and 11.1 million tons, respectively.
