AMD in Talks with South Korean AI Chipmakers Over Global Expansion

US-based semiconductor company AMD is in talks with the South Korean artificial intelligence semiconductor companies to expand into the global market, according to a Wednesday release.
According to the South Korean Ministry of Science and ICT, AMD Chairwoman Lisa Su met representatives of 13 South Korean companies and discussed linking domestic technologies with AMD's CPUs.
The meeting discussed domestic participation in AMD's open-source-based AI and high-performance computing software platform, ROCm, and the sides agreed to review projects, including establishing an AMD AI research center in South Korea.
