Singapore Shares End Higher on Wall Street Momentum, Easing Oil Prices

Singapore's shares closed higher for a second straight day on Tuesday, tracking a technology stock-led rally on Wall Street and benefiting from declining oil prices.

The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 5,644.33 and 5,701.54 throughout the day. It ended the session at 5,701.54, up 37.21 points or 0.7% compared to Monday's close.

In corporate news, Top Glove's (KLSE:TOPGLOV, SGX:BVA) profit attributable to owners of the parent surged to 157.6 million ringgit in the fiscal fourth quarter ended Aug. 31, from 34.8 million ringgit a year earlier. Shares soared 15%.

Elsewhere, AEM (SGX:AWX) has filed petitions for an inter partes review with the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board, challenging the validity of two patents asserted by Advantest Test Solutions in an ongoing patent infringement case. Shares closed 3% higher.

DBS Group's (SGX:D05) DBS Bank will list and quote its $161 million 5.03% fixed-rate bonds, due 2027, on the Singapore Exchange's Bonds Market on Oct. 7. Shares ended nearly 1% higher.
