Natera (NTRA) said Wednesday that patient enrollment has begun for a trial using its Signatera test to identify patients who may need earlier intervention by detecting persistent molecular residual disease before radiographic progression.

The company said the study will use Signatera to guide treatment escalation for patients with advanced or metastatic melanoma, which is an aggressive type of skin cancer. It said the current standard of care is a combination immunotherapy until clinical progression.

The company said the primary endpoint is progression-free survival.

The study is sponsored by NYU Langone Health.
