Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google faces a potential 1.2 billion British pounds ($1.59 billion) payout claim in the UK over allegations that its Play Store fees resulted in higher prices for about 20 million consumers, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

Lawyers representing the affected consumers told the Competition Appeal Tribunal in London that Google's 30% commission on digital purchases breached competition law, the report said.

Google has denied engaging in anti-competitive conduct, according to the report.

Google did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
