Medibank Private (ASX:MPL) will invest an additional AU$50 million in mental health initiatives over five years, taking its total recent investment to AU$100 million, according to a Wednesday statement.
The additional investment will boost access to mental wellbeing tools, including through an expansion of the company's virtual psychology clinic, and will also help drive acute mental health innovation at hospitals, Medibank said.
Medibank Group CEO, David Koczkar, said mental illness in Australia is growing at an "alarming rate" as the current mental health system is not working for many people.
