Singapore's total retail sales rose 0.7% year over year to SG$4.5 billion in August, after a 1.3% increase in July, according to data released Monday by the Statistics Department.
The growth marked the softest in the current seven-month expansion streak and missed the 1.7% forecast from Trading Economics.
Excluding motor vehicles, parts, and accessories, retail sales rose 1.6% year over year to SG$3.8 billion, faster than 1.3% in the preceding month.
