Walmart (WMT) said Thursday it opened a more than 900,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Stockton, California, that will create more than 1,000 jobs and expand the company's ability to provide faster shipping to customers across the West Coast.
The facility is equipped with an automated, high-density storage and retrieval system that reduces the traditional fulfillment process from 12 steps to five, while reducing repetitive manual tasks.
Walmart also made $10,000 in grants to the Emergency Food Bank of Stockton and Unbound Stockton Community School, according to a statement.
