Netflix (NFLX) saw advertising deals in Japan rise 12-fold in January-September from a year earlier, driven by original content and exclusive World Baseball Classic rights, Nikkei Asia reported Friday.

The company attracted advertisers from a range of sectors, including consumer goods, technology, gaming and entertainment, the report said, citing Toshi Tanaka, Netflix's head of advertising sales in Japan.

A recent survey found that Netflix ads generated four times the average brand awareness of commercials on terrestrial TV and other streaming platforms, the report added.

Netflix did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
